When to Trade Matters

Markets don't behave the same all day. Different sessions have different personalities.

Futures Trading Sessions (Eastern Time)

• Globex/Overnight (6:00 PM - 9:30 AM) — Lower volume, slower moves
• Pre-Market (8:00 AM - 9:30 AM) — News reactions, positioning
• NY Open (9:30 AM - 10:30 AM) — HIGHEST volatility, best setups
• Mid-Day (10:30 AM - 2:00 PM) — Usually choppy, lower quality
• Power Hour (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) — Volume picks up, trend resumes

The Golden Hours

Most professional futures traders focus on 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM ET. This is when volume is highest, moves are cleanest, and the best setups form. As a beginner, stick to this window.
